Phrase: Hold your own
Sustained forward motion.
That’s what we are all looking for.
It’s hard to do, though.
Sometimes, the best we can hope for is to hold our own.
To hold your own means to remain strong in the face of a challenging situation.
Then again, sometimes, holding your own is more than most people can do.
How many times have you heard it said that we are living in challenging times?
Too many, right?
Well, we may be living in an extraordinary time, but tell me this: when was life not challenging?
Rent, car payments, the cost of food, and don’t get me started on student loans: we were already in challenging times.
This is just one more thing to add to the pile of things we cannot handle.
You know what, though?
We, society, us humans, will handle this.
We have survived everything nature could through at us, and more scarily all the times we almost shot ourselves in the foot.
Ever heard of the Cuban Missile Crisis?
I heard that it was intense.
We can hold our own against anything.
I firmly believe that.
I think it because I know I can hold my own.
I’ve never written about it, but I have survived a near-death experience – twice.
If I could do that, then, believe me, we can hold our own during this lockdown thing.
We have YouTube!
No matter what your challenge is today, there is someone else with a bigger one.
Hold your own, and things will get better; they always do.
Keep on, keeping on.
