Idiom: Hit the ground running

I’ve always thought hiring a new employee who can hit the ground running is better than hiring an inexperienced person who needs to be trained first.

As I get older, I also wonder why some companies discriminate against older workers.

In many cases, older…no, mature workers already have the skills that companies need.

We can hit the ground running or are ready to contribute to a new company immediately.

We have the experience and ability to create results in any new activity, project or assignment immediately after they begin working for the company.

The Japanese government now wants to set the retirement age at 70.

Hopefully, age discrimination will become a thing of the past when that happens.

Then again, with bad knees and sore backs, many people will not be hitting anything, especially the ground.

They will probably not be running anywhere, either.
