Word of the Day: Hinge on

I believe everything will hinge on this year, everyone.

When one thing hinges on another, it depends on or is greatly influenced by that other thing.

2018 is going to be year zero for all of us.

The weather is entirely off the hook (crazy) this year, and if we, I mean the human race, do not get our act together and begin to implement some long-needed changes, we will have a tough time in the coming years.

Climate change is upon us.

The degree to which climate change continues to worsen hinges on what we do now.

This summer, the temperature rose to 30℃ inside the Arctic Circle, for crying out loud!

How many more times do we need to be told?

We have been ignoring the scientists for way too long.

We need to change, or climate change is going to kill us.

The future will hinge on what we do in the next few years.

At the moment, there is an ongoing movement to rid the world of plastic straws.

It’s a start and an excellent one, in my opinion.

We’ve developed into a single-use-throwaway culture.

Almost all the food we consume is eaten with plastic utensils, wrapped in plastic or carried home in plastic bags.

We’ve become careless and lazy.

Our demand for convenience is creating a very inconvenient problem: plastic waste.

Of course, plastic waste did not cause the highest temperature ever recorded in Japan this year.

It is, however, a result of the same cultural disease we have.

In exchange for convenience, we create waste that is changing the earth.

We’re at the breaking point right now.

The future is going to hinge on what you do today!
