Expression: Have a lot on your plate

If we think about it literally, to have a lot on your plate means you have a lot of food to eat.

But in our usage today, to have a lot on your plate means you have a lot of work to do.

In today’s high-paced, overworked society, most of us have many responsibilities and duties to complete daily.

We all have a lot on our plates.
