WotD: Half-hearted
Have you been having a good day or a bad one?
I like to think that how we begin the day, whether we face it with enthusiasm or in a half-hearted way, determines how we will feel about it.
To do something in a half-hearted way is to do it with no spirit or enthusiasm.
Acting without energy or desire is half-hearted.
There’s much information, advice and craziness on the Internet about the best way to begin your day.
Some advise having an early morning routine, such as getting in a 20-minute high-intensity cardio workout, followed by 20 minutes of meditation with a soothing cup of coffee on the back deck to prepare yourself for the coming day.
Others suggest beginning the day slowly with your favourite hot beverage while perusing your overnight emails or the morning news.
Immediately after waking, I like to map out my day in my head.
Let’s call it a plan of action.
By the time my feet are flat on the floor, I feel energetic, enthusiastic, and ready to face the day.
It’s not good to do or begin any endeavour half-heartedly.
Each new day is a great adventure waiting to unfold.
Yes, you may roll your eyes at that statement, but it’s true.
The day will be what you make it.
If you begin the day half-heartedly, with no spirit or enthusiasm, then there’s a high chance your day is going to suck.
You are in charge.
Make it a point to feel energized and enthusiastic about any challenges life sends your way.
Then, you will have more good days than bad.
Remember, be a grizzly bear – never face a challenge half-heartedly, and never give up.
