English Phrase: Go without saying
Go without saying is a little phrase people use to mean that something is obvious or easily understood.
As an example, for an English teacher from a foreign country to enter Japan, they need to prove that they have a university degree. Therefore it goes without saying that the foreign teachers in Japan have all gone to a university.
As another example, the Japanese summer sun is scorching, especially in August. Of course, it goes without saying you’ll get a sunburn if you spend a lot of time outside without wearing sunscreen.
Don’t forget to slip, slap, slop* before you go to the beach. That’s all for this post, but it goes without saying I’ll be back again tomorrow, bye!
Slip, slap, slop: Slip on a shirt, slap on a hat, slop on some sunscreen. (I learned this as a kid)
