English Expression: Go through the motions

Good morning, sunshine!

Welcome to Monday!

Time to rise and shine!

It’s time to jump out of bed bright-eyed and bushy-tailed.

Open your curtains and greet the day, “HELLO WORLD IT’S, (insert your name here)!”

What?

Not today?

It is not going to happen on Monday, eh?

Monday is a day for going through the motions.

Monday is not a day for energy, enthusiasm or jumping of any kind, especially out of bed.

It’s the day for being lethargic; you do everything you must do just because you must do it.

Enthusiasm, energy, or smiling of any kind is not required because it’s Monday and a day for going through the motions.

When you are bored and not enthusiastic about doing something, but you do it anyway, you are going through the motions.
