English Idiom: Get your hands dirty

If you get your hands dirty, you are willing to work hard at undesirable tasks to accomplish something.

Imagine that there are two managers in your office.

One manager likes to delegate authority and tasks to her subordinates but does not do any of the work herself.

The other manager also delegates authority and responsibilities, but she works alongside her subordinates to help them and ensure everything goes smoothly.

The second manager is not afraid to get her hands dirty.
