Get up to

Get up to something means someone is taking part in some mischief or doing something that you don’t approve of.

Word of the Day: Get up to

Usually, when we get up to something we are taking part in some mischief or doing something of which others don’t approve.

If you have little children and they suddenly go quiet, or everything suddenly turns peaceful, you instinctively know that they are up to something because small children are only calm when they are sleeping or doing something that will cause them to get into trouble, and little kids seldom sleep.

People who get up to something often somehow look suspicious.

Often we don’t know why, but a sixth sense tells us that they are doing something they shouldn’t be.

How about the guy in the picture? What kind of mischief do you think he is getting into now?
