Idiom: Get a foothold
Most recently graduated or soon-to-graduate university students are struggling to get a foothold in a company.
If you get a foothold, then you have attained and secured a position in a business, industry or field of employment.
Most graduates would love to secure a good position in a company, but it seems that it’s becoming increasingly difficult.
These days, securing a position is easy enough, but more often than not, the situation is not a good one.
If people are successful in finding acceptable employment, then they can be at ease for the future, or at least in the near future.
So, whether you are trying to get a foothold in a company or pursue business success, I wish you all the best for 2017.
I myself am working on getting a foothold in the private language teaching industry in Japan.
Any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated.
