English Idiom: Freeze your butt off
What’s going on with the weather, eh?
It’s cold enough to freeze your tweetin’ butt off out here!
It’s cold enough to freeze your butt off means that the temperature is very cold. It’s just an expression.
Butts don’t really fall off.
Last week, it was cold enough to be in the depths of winter, and now, this week, it feels like spring.
I’m confused.
Is this global warming?
Climate change?
Is the world going to hell in a handbasket?
Oh well, we can only enjoy the warm spell while it lasts and then return to complaining when it gets cold again.
Many people enjoy cold weather.
They have a great time shovelling, chopping and scraping snow and ice off their car, driveway and steps.
I’m happy for them, but I hate freezing my butt off for 4-5 months every year.
