Word of the Day: Flux

The world is in a constant state of flux or continuous change.

Change is all around us – it’s natural and inevitable.

The weather changes on a daily, if not hourly, basis, as does the temperature.

Most places on the earth have four seasons, and some have more.

Japan has spring, summer, autumn and winter, and a rainy season between spring and summer.

The colour of the maple leaf on my home country’s flag is in flux throughout the year.

In the spring, the leaves are a fresh, bright green.

During the summer, they are a deeper, darker shade of green.

Then in the autumn, they turn to brilliant hues of red and yellow until they finally turn black or brown and fall off the trees.

If it’s so natural to be in a continuous state of flux, why do humans resist it so much?

I’ve done more than my fair share of travelling, and it seems one thing we all have in common, no matter where we live, is our resistance to change.

Women are still not experiencing our societies on an equal footing with men.

What’s up with that?

The LGBTQ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transexual and Queer) community still has to fight to be allowed to get married.

Why do countries and religions even deny them that right?

I mean, they should be able to get married just like straight people.

Then they can also go through messy divorces as well.

They should be able to experience all that society has to offer.

Our world is in a constant state of flux.

All around us, there is change happening at all times.

We, humans, need to learn to embrace change, enjoy it, and live our lives through it.
