Expression: Hide in Plain Sight

Hide in plain sight means something is where people can easily see it but don’t notice it for one reason or another.

If you put your smartphone on the kitchen counter, your smartphone is in plain sight.

The trick is that some things are very good at hiding in plain sight.

Have you ever spent 15 minutes looking for your glasses only to realize they were sitting on your head?

Or you may have searched for your car keys only to discover them in your hand.

No?

So, it’s just me then.

Anyway, some animals are very skilled at hiding in plain sight.

Did you notice the owl in the centre of the picture accompanying today’s post?

Yes, an owl is there, right in the centre of the photograph.

Psst. If you need your glasses, they’re on top of your head.
