Phrase: Easier said than done

Talk to any successful business owner, and they will tell you the world is full of talkers.

People are very eager to tell you what they are going to do.

They have big plans and even bigger dreams.

The problem is that most of what they say is easier said than done.

It’s very easy to talk about things; we can talk until the cows come home about what we’re going to do.

All of that is talk until we leave the TV behind, get off the sofa and take action.

Children often talk about their dreams of becoming an astronaut, race car driver or Superman.

In the west, we tell the children to shoot for the moon, and even if they miss, they’ll land among the stars.

The shooting, however, is the hard part.

Becoming successful in any life endeavour is much more challenging than merely pulling the trigger.

Success requires much time, patience, dedication and diligence.

That’s why most things are easier said than done.

It’s easy enough to sit around a table with more beers than friends and talk about what you are going to do.

It doesn’t mean a hill of beans until you get out there and do it.

The beginning is easy enough.

Day one, day two or the first month can seem easy enough.

Making dreams come true, though, is tough work.

That’s when people finally realize that things are easier said than done.

That moment, the moment of realization, is what separates the professionals from the amateurs.

When the going gets tough, the tough get going, and the soft sit down to talk about what they are going to do tomorrow.
