Phrase: Dumb is never cute

The experts say we are experiencing the golden age of online streaming, or at least we were before the writers and actors’ strike.

They may be right because I watch less and less Japanese TV every year due to the high amount of what is called ‘baka (idiot) talent’ featured on many shows.

In Japan, these ‘talents’ are often physically attractive but act as dumb as a bag of hammers.

While the Japanese may find this endearing, for me, dumb is never cute.

The phrase dumb is never cute means that being stupid is never an attractive or adorable quality in a man or woman.

It is often used to describe people who are ditzy, clueless, or lacking common sense.

Dumb is dumb.

There are many reasons why dumb is never cute.

First, being around someone constantly making mistakes or saying silly things can be annoying and frustrating.

Second, it can be a sign of laziness or lack of intelligence.

Third, it can make someone seem unreliable or untrustworthy.

Of course, some people find dumbness to be endearing.

They may see it as a sign of innocence or vulnerability.

However, I would say for most educated people, being dumb is not a quality that they find attractive and can quickly become old hat.

If you want to be seen as intelligent and attractive, it is important to avoid being dumb.

This means being aware of your surroundings, thinking before speaking, and avoiding careless mistakes.

It also means being willing to learn and grow.

If you watch TV in Japan and laugh at the ‘baka talent,’ it may be time to start making some changes.

Remember, dumb is never cute, so it is important to cultivate your intelligence and wit.

In English, we have an expression: like goes with like.

So, if you like ‘baka talent,’ then, well, I hope you are smart enough to figure it out.

The more intelligent and witty you are, the more attractive you will be to others.
