Phrase: Don’t bite the hand that feeds you

Helping someone out of the goodness of your heart is considered a virtue.

Likewise, you should never bite the hand that feeds you.

I used to work for a Lebanese man who was a very good person.

He was the type of person who would bend over backwards to help someone but never ask for a thing in return.

Don’t bite the hand that feeds you means you should not act unthankfully, ungratefully, or unappreciatively to those who help you.

As I was saying, my former boss was a good man.

One summer, he hired a young Canadian man in dire straits.

He didn’t have a place to stay or much to eat, so my boss gave him a job.

Now you would think that a person in such a situation would have been grateful for the opportunity to get back on his feet.

Perhaps he was, but he had a poor way of showing it.

He began to steal food and money.

Remember, today’s focus is on the phrase don’t bite the hand that feeds you.

My boss believed that good things would happen to you if you do good things.

On the flip side of the coin, bad things happen to bad people.

One day, as he was working in the back, he cut his finger off from the top joint.

My boss saw that as a sign from God.

He picked up his finger, put it in a bag with some ice and told him to go to the hospital.

Then he fired him.

Don’t bite the hand that feeds you.
