English Expression: Do the right thing

Everyone is busy.

We all have many things that we need to do and many things that we don’t want to do.

Sometimes, we try to do the easiest thing, but it is not always easy to do the right thing.

This phrase means to do the morally correct ethical thing.

An easy example of doing the right thing is that if we were hiking and we finished a bottle of water, it would be easier to throw the bottle away.

If we were to do the right thing, then we would not litter.

When we got home, we put the empty bottle back in our backpack and put it in the recycle bin.
