WotD: Divine intervention
Have you ever had something occur to you and thought it must have been divine intervention?
Well, you’re not alone.
Divine intervention means that a higher power (like a god or goddess) can intervene in human affairs.
It’s like having a hotline to the gods, but you get some creative juice or a little help instead of receiving winning lottery numbers.
Now, you might be thinking, “What if the higher power is having an off day?”
Well, that’s where we get into some murky waters.
If you’re not feeling particularly inspired, it might be because the gods are on vacation or you are dealing with another divine emergency.
The gods must be preoccupied with humans doing our best to make climate change predictions a self-fulfilling prophecy and the bad boy trio of Putin, Xi and Kim with their fingers on their big red buttons.
But don’t worry; it’s not personal.
They’re just trying to save the world.
Divine intervention can manifest in music, art, literature, and everyday life.
For example, have you ever had a near accident?
That could be divine intervention at work.
Or you suddenly had an idea for a new invention while in the shower.
Yep, that’s divine intervention too.
But be warned; divine intervention is a double-edged sword.
While it can bring about great works of art and save your life, it can also lead to questionable decisions.
For instance, have you ever seen a sculpture that made you go, “What in the world is that?”
That could be the result of some god somewhere having a little fun.
The next time you’re feeling inspired, remember to thank your lucky stars (or gods) that they decided to grace you with their divine intervention.
