Word of the day: Dirty money
Dirty money does not mean money that has become stained or has been dropped on the ground.
It’s money earned illegally, such as by selling drugs or doing other illegal things.
When people make large amounts of dirty money, it is easy for the government or banks to catch them because they cannot explain where they got the money.
This then creates a problem for the criminals.
Their dirty money needs to be ‘cleaned’ or ‘laundered.’
