Cursive writing

Cursive writing is handwriting that has rounded letters that are all joined together. Many people don't even learn cursive writing anymore.
This used to be how ‘big people’ wrote when I was a little boy.

Word of the Day: Cursive writing

Let me ask you a question.

How often do you write with a pen and paper in cursive writing?

I don’t mean jot down a shopping list.

I mean, how often do you sit down and write a letter or a few pages of text?

Hardly ever?

Me too.

I seldom use a pen and paper anymore.

All of my writing is on a computer, smartphone or tablet.

For this reason, I never practice my cursive writing anymore.

I learned how to write in elementary school, but I’ve met younger Canadians (I’m 44) who do not know how to write or do not know how to make capital letters in cursive writing.

Like me, their penmanship is not as good as that of our parents.

So, how do they write?

They don’t write at all.

They print or use what is called block letters.

It seems sad that the number of people practising cursive writing is declining.

I guess it is somewhat lost art these days.
