Word of the Day: Crutch

Using drugs as a crutch to cope with life’s problems is a dangerous and deadly habit.

All we need to do is look at the streets of any major city in North America to see the results.

A crutch is something we lean on for support, stability, and balance.

In this context, drugs become a crutch when we rely on them to deal with life’s difficulties.

Legal drugs, such as prescription painkillers, are just as dangerous as illegal ones when used as a crutch.

They can lead to addiction, overdose, and even death.

The opioid epidemic in the United States is a direct result of people using prescription painkillers as a crutch.

Illegal drugs, such as Xylazine and Fentanyl, have even more severe consequences.

They can cause irreversible damage to the body and mind, leading to prison time or even death.

Using these drugs as a crutch is dancing with the devil.

It’s important to recognize when we’re using drugs as a crutch and to seek help before it’s too late.

We in society like to say there are many resources available for those struggling with addiction.

However, these resources are woefully inadequate to deal with what is occurring on the streets of cities such as Vancouver, Canada or Portland, Oregon.

The best course of action is abstinence.

Instead of relying on drugs as a crutch, develop healthy coping mechanisms such as exercise, meditation, or spending time with loved ones.

Remember, drugs are not a solution.

They’re a crutch that only makes the original problem worse.
