English Idiom: Crack a smile
From time to time, it’s beneficial to crack a smile.
When you crack a smile, you smile.
When someone is serious or concentrating, they could crack a smile to lighten the mood.
It’s not right to walk around all day with a stern look on your face.
Yes, you may be busy, concentrating on something or worried about something else – your mind could be on any number of things.
I’ve found that cracking a smile on the outside helps to lighten the mood on the inside.
Go ahead, give it a try and see if it doesn’t lighten your mood just a little.
If you can’t smile alone, think about someone cutting the cheese in an elevator.
I bet that will put a smile on your face.
