Word of the Day: Contract
No, I’m not talking about a legal document today.
This contract is the verb form, which means to catch an illness or disease.
For example, you can catch the flu, but you can also contract the flu.
Of course, getting the flu vaccine each year would help to reduce the severity of if you were to catch it.
The vaccine would be a small price to pay for peace of mind, don’t you think?
You can also contract many other diseases, such as malaria, AIDS or the Ebola virus.
For English language learners, using the word contract instead of catch will increase your vocabulary a little bit and show that you have a broad vocabulary knowledge.
I hope nobody reading this contracts the flu, malaria or Ebola this year.
Take care and have a happy life, guys and gals.
