Word of the Day: Cobblestone/cobble
For some reason, we seem to feel that a cobblestone street is romantic and quaint.
A cobblestone or cobble is a small to medium-sized roundish stone that was commonly used to pave streets in Europe.
I’m not quite sure why streets paved with roundish stones seem romantic, but it does.
Perhaps it’s the connection to a better, simpler past.
We go to Paris and enjoy walking down the cobblestone streets, imagining that we are flying back to a time when Madame Guillotine was hard at work and modern France was reborn out of the revolution.
By the way, did you know that you can buy a cobble from Paris?
If you click here, you can go to the website.
If you want to give a special someone a special present, you can give them an authentic gold-plated cobble from Paris.
You may think it seems a little weird and wonder who would want a gold-plated cobble, but hey, you have to remember, to each their own.
