Word of the Day: Catalyst
Anyone who has a basic knowledge of chemistry will be familiar with a catalyst.
In chemistry, a catalyst is something that can speed up a chemical reaction without itself being changed.
The word catalyst can have another meaning, though.
Events that cause tremendous change are also catalysts.
Bitcoin is a catalyst that has sparked the whole blockchain revolution and a new alternative to the traditional financial system that we have all grown to know and love.
OK, maybe not love, but you understand my point.
Every once in a while, a significant change occurs, and one thing, one catalyst, can always be traced to the cause of that change.
Perhaps the history books of the future will say that Bitcoin was the catalyst that sparked the creation of an entirely new financial system.
