Phrase: Can’t be bothered
It’s Sunday, the day when many people can’t be bothered to do anything.
It’s a great day for sleeping in, eating a late breakfast outside, taking a short stroll around the neighbourhood and then keeping yourself busy by lying around the house for the remainder of the day.
When you can’t be bothered, you do not want to make any effort to do anything.
It’s the purpose of Sunday.
Sunday, you see, was invented for people to enjoy the can’t-be-bothered lifestyle just once a week.
You have to love Sundays!
And why not?
Isn’t Sunday supposed to be a day of leisure?
Shouldn’t we rest on the seventh day to be well refreshed, reinvigorated and recharged when we return to the daily grind on Monday?
How about those people who have made it their life’s work to laze around not only on Sundays but Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays too?
Professionally, they can’t be bothered at any time to do anything.
There’s a lot to be said for that.
I won’t say it here, but there is much to be said nonetheless.
I, for one, would love to live a life of leisure as a professional couch potato.
Actually, no, that’s a lie.
I would never be able to do it.
I’d be dead in a month.
It takes a particular kind of person to say they can’t be bothered every day.
I’m more of a go-getter.
My wife tells me where to go and what to get, and I go and get it.
If she were ever to ask me to get something and I said, ‘I can’t be bothered,’ that would be the end for sure.
So, if you are enjoying the can’t-be-bothered lifestyle, enjoy it while you can.
Down the road, things may change quickly.
