Word of the Day: Buzzword

Cybersecurity is the buzzword these days.

First, we have Russian hacking and its influence on the 2016 US presidential election.

Then we have the WannaCry ransomware incident, and of course, hackers are always trying to hack into and deface or takeover websites.

Yes, cybersecurity is the word on everyone’s lips in 2017.

Everybody is looking for ways to protect their computers, websites and devices from growing hacking attempts.

When something such as a word or expression becomes popular in society, and everyone is talking about it, it becomes a buzzword.

Everybody seems to have an opinion about whatever the subject is.

Sometimes, the life of the buzzword is very short before the everyday conversation moves on to something else.

Sometimes, however, it has legs and continues to be discussed for a long time.

Although WannaCry was a buzzword for a few weeks, cybersecurity is a term we’ll be discussing for many years.
