Expression: Beyond the pale
If your actions are described as beyond the pale, it means that your actions are not acceptable behaviour.
Let me explain this so that you have a visual image.
In the picture, you can see a fence.
Each of the vertical boards is called a paling.
A paling fence usually surrounds a safe area.
If you are inside that area, you are safe, but if you go beyond the pale or outside the fence, you are in more dangerous territory and are not behaving correctly.
Inside the fence is safe, and in this area, people behave correctly.
The thinking is that people who go beyond the fence are doing something sketchy or willingly going into danger.
This behaviour must be weird and unusual.
Everything you do that people think is strange or unusual could be described as beyond the pale.
