Saying: Behind every great man, there is a great woman

The topic of today’s post is a well-known saying, and as far as I can ascertain, the origin is from a Texas newspaper.

The saying behind every great man, there is a great woman, has been used since around the 1940s.

The meaning is that men do not become great on their own; they need help from a great woman, usually their wife or mother.

As we all know, a man’s home is his castle, but his wife is the one who gives the orders.

It could be the same for all things.

Unfortunately, the world has been dominated by men for one reason or another.

A man may be dominant in public, but in the background, his wife is often a very close confidant.

Many people may agree that Barack Obama was a great president.

I hope those same people would agree that his wife was a great woman and played a significant role in his presidency.

Up to this point in history, America, the most powerful country in the world, has never had a female president.

That is a shame, and hopefully, will one day soon be corrected.

I am sure, however, that every president has been guided, assisted, counselled and comforted by great women.

Now, keep in mind today’s saying behind every man, there is a great woman, may sound sexist or condescending. This may or may not be accurate.

I am just passing along the information.

You can decide for yourself whether it is sexist or not.

All I ask is that you please don’t shoot the messenger.
