Be in the public eye

To be in the public eye means to have the attention of the media so that the public is interested in who you are and everything you do.
The public eye is everywhere and all-seeing.

Idiom: Be in the public eye

Some celebrities very much enjoy being in the public eye.

If you are familiar with Kim Kardashian, then you know that she has built her entire career around having the media’s attention.

Of course, the attention is mostly focused on her butt, but she has their attention nonetheless.

The public is interested in who she is and everything she does.

She has the most famous rump in North America; everyone loves to see her walk away.

Pretty much every day, you can see her trending on social media, surrounded by paparazzi, in newspapers or magazines and strutting her stuff on TV.

She doesn’t do very much of anything except smile and pose for the camera, but hey, if it works, it works.

For many celebrities, to be in the public eye is the best publicity they can get until it isn’t good publicity.

If a person does something foolish or stupid, such as running around a park in the middle of the night while naked or using some illicit drug, they try very hard to avoid publicity.

The problem is that it is tough to get back to private life once you’re in the public eye.

Being in the public eye may seem glamorous when you want it, but you can have too much of a good thing.

Then they do say there is no such thing as bad publicity, so there you go.
