At first blush or at first glance means the moment when you first start to think about something before you have given it any deep thought.
At first glance, I thought the picture was authentic, but then I realized someone photoshopped it.

Idiom: At first blush/glance

At first blush or first glance, means the moment when you first start to think about something before you have given it any deep thought.

There are various ways to use this expression.

For example, at first glance, I never thought I would be able to complete the project on time, but after giving it some thought, it seemed doable.

Another example would be my wife’s father is not as weird as I expected at first blush.

And on the other hand, I am not as strange as he thought I was at first glance, either.
