A work in progress

The expression a work in progress is used for artistic works an artist is working on but has not yet completed.
It is not finished yet. It is still a work in progress.

Expression: A work in progress

In many cases, the expression a work in progress is used for artistic works not yet completed.

I’ve heard that some authors, for example, like to write two or three different books at the same time.

That way, if they get writer’s block on one, they can switch over to another work in progress.
