English Proverb: A stitch in time saves nine
When difficulties arise, it’s usually best to deal with them immediately – a stitch in time saves nine, as the proverb goes.
From time to time, problems develop.
It’s not anyone’s fault, and the issues are often not preventable.
By directly dealing with a problem, a minor issue can be prevented from developing into a significant problem in the future.
As far as I can tell, this proverb comes from sewing.
If a small rip in an article of clothing is immediately repaired, the tiny split is prevented from becoming a significant repair challenge.
A little bit of sewing now prevents a lot of sewing later.
It’s the same for most of life’s problems.
We can choose to ignore them, but they will only get bigger and require more time and effort to take care of them later.
When we deal with problems immediately, we can save a lot of time and effort.
This is how you can use a stitch in time, saves nine even if you don’t sew.
