WotD: A run (on something)
Have you ever seen so many people move so fast in your life?
Who knew toilet paper was so important?
This pandemic has created an urgent need for many things, but toilet paper shocked everyone.
There has been a worldwide run on toilet paper that has made it as rare as hen’s teeth.
When there’s a run on something, a lot of people want to buy the same thing at the same time.
It’s probably the one thing that preppers never prepped for – cleaning up at the end. Ha, ha, ha!
I was ready.
We usually keep two packs of Costco toilet paper on hand in case there is an earthquake here in Wakayama.
Well, the world has been shaken, but it wasn’t an earthquake.
There was a run on toilet paper, which means a lot of people wanted to buy the same thing at the same time.
It’s sort of what happens at Christmas when everyone wants to purchase the year’s big toy.
Except, this time, there was a run on toilet paper in spring.
Wow! It left many people scratching their, ah, heads.
Whenever there is an earthquake in Japan, there’s immediately a run on convenience stores.
People go there to purchase drinks, bento and anything else you can think of.
Back in the 70s, during the oil shock, there was a run on toilet paper too.
Toilet paper is not made from oil, but whatever, it happened.
The Lehman Shock caused a run on the Northern Rock bank in the UK, which eventually caused it to collapse.
That was because people thought they were going to lose their savings.
But a run on toilet paper?
Let’s hope people learn always to have an extra pack on hand.
If they don’t, the alternative is not desirable.
