Phrase: A change of pace
Estimated reading time: 2 minutes
It’s been a hard winter. Unfortunately, there are a few more months to go before we can wiggle our toes in the sand.
That said, we can all use a change of pace right now.
You may not be able to go on holiday at the moment due to COVID or work commitments, but stirring things up a little bit will help to get rid of the winter blues.
One of my favourite sayings is, ‘Humans are creatures of habit.’
We are most comfortable when there is little change in our lives.
However, nothing is perfect, and sometimes we require a change of pace or a change from our regular pattern.
A change of pace doesn’t have to be drastic, but it needs to be enough to feel different.

It could be as simple as wearing brighter clothing or moving the furniture around in your living room.
It could also be a weekend getaway in the mountains at a hot spring or a night in a city hotel.
It doesn’t matter what it is as long as it is a change of pace for you.
It doesn’t even have to cost you any money.
If you often turn left when you leave your house in the morning, try turning right and see where that takes you.
Try listening to a new podcast or borrowing library books by an author you don’t often read.
It doesn’t take much to achieve a change of pace, but it may make all the difference in the world when it comes to how you feel.
